Saving Samuel Background by BigDub
Saving Samuel Background
I finished up this painting today to use as a background for my app. I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

Saving Samuel
I am quite excited. My new android app is now available on the Google Play store:…
Its a pretty simple game right now. Your job is to knock the rocks being thrown at Samuel out of the way before they hit him.
I made it for the LDSTech Gospel Games and Apps contest this October. I would really appreciate some feedback/reviews of the app.
Mountains by BigDub
It came to my attention that I have never really painted an image of just terrain. Perhaps that is why I have such difficulty putting my characters in an environment, I've never practiced making environments. Here is a quick attempt at one. I think it looks nice.
I've been toying with the idea recently of offering my talents for commissions. I can't seem to motivate myself to draw as much as I feel I should, so perhaps the added incentive of money could get me into painting regularly. Plus one of the biggest stumbling blocks I run into when I do want to make art is not having any idea what I should do, commissions would solve that as well.
I've seen some surprisingly bad artists on deviantArt get some commissions, so I figure it's worth a shot.
So the question now is, would anyone even be interested in hiring me to make them something?
At this point I am not sure what I would charge, how the payments would be made (paypal?), when the payments would be made, or anything along those lines. I don't want anyone to feel they've been ripped off and I don't want to get ripped off.
I don't, as of yet, have any established rules regarding commissions but as a ground rule I will not do anything pornographic or sexually provocative. I will refuse commissions consisting of a subject matter or promoting an ideology that I feel uncomfortable with or morally opposed to. I'll probably refuse commissions that I just really don't want to do as well. I will try to be fair in my dealings but, as I've not done this before, it might be a bumpy road at first.

So my watchers and passerbys, reviewing my gallery, would you trust me with a commission? What are your thoughts on the idea? Please comment, start a discussion. Even if I do not reply to each comment I will have read them all.

Do you have any commissions now that you'd like to propose? Send me a message summarizing your idea and we can start a private dialog discussing the piece and its price.

Could you do a server compatible applejack version? The one you provide only works on client and missing all the vmt files(no server version thats why xD).

I have not run a TF2 server before. What is required for a server compatible version? Is it simply that none of the models or materials override existing assets?

Take a look at this:…

You see Aj looks brown and the tail is brown black.
But Fs and Ts looks normal.

I think it's because the .vmt are missing and the plugin cant show it correctly.

You do provide 3 .vmt, but they are only for the eyes and uber.

If you need more information im glad to help ^^

No, the problem seems to be that you're missing a VTF. VMTs specify material properties, including what texture to read from. VTF I believe stands for Valve Texture Format and, as would be expected, hold textures.
The Applejack mod uses the same unmodified VMT that the engineer uses, however it overrides the VTF and replaces it with a modified one.
Your model there is using the original engineer texture instead of my modified one.
Judging by the fact that your little portrait model is the original engineer and one of the images says something about equipping "Applejack_A", I'm going to bet this mod has been applied to the server somehow.
The problem is that I did not make my mods to work on servers, I made them to work on clients. In order for them to work on the client they have to override the defaults.
Is this your server that you're trying to add this model to?

Hello again. I know you've been moving on and probably don't have an interest anymore, but I've been wanting to ask you this: Do you think you'll get around to finishing the Rarity Spy model?

I'm not here to rush, and I know there's already a spy model by Friagram, but I've been eager to see your model reach completion since you've started. I'm no expert, but the model's looks appear quite lovely and the only flaws I can see are the lack of hoofs for hands in first-person-view, along with facial animations.

If you plan on stopping with the Rarity model, well I suppose that's okay. I just wanted to hear your thoughts in case you've had any remaining plans on it.

I've been thinking about it from time to time. I don't have any immediate plans, but next week I finish my service mission and I will have a lot of free time with nothing to do until school starts at the end of August. I usually get pretty antsy when I feel like I haven't done anything productive for a few days. Last time I had nothing to do all day for a long period of time is when I started the mods in the first place. I think it is possible that I will decide to finish it in the near future, but for now I have no plans.
